RETREAT!!!! What
a great retreat we had. Participation by active
choir members was the best ever. All sections were
well represented. It is amazing to hear the
difference it makes when nearly everyone is on retreat.
All of the new Advent/Christmas music was pretty much
learned, and several anthems to be used for other Sundays
were learned as well. That said, we still have work
to do before the music is ready to present. The
choir seems to grow closer as a family each retreat.
It was great to
have
Vicki Mills
return to the choir during retreat.
Jim Mills
sang with us, as well, and we hope he will sing in the
choir as his schedule permits….. Welcome anytime,
Jim.
Another newcomer
joining us on retreat was
Sue Madden.
We welcome
Sue into
our choir family and hope she will be able to regularly
sing with us soon.
Seen in Black
Mountain during a break from rehearsals were many of the
choir members. It was rainy but it didn’t seem to
dampen spirits of those who were out and about.
Walter Cuttino and Sara Beardsley
are to be congratulated on the anthem selections.
Choir members very much liked the program that they put
together. Thank you,
Walter and Sara.
Speaking of
Sara Beardsley,
what a tremendous job she did in preparation of the
accompaniment. Some of the selections demanded much
attention before the retreat. She made the piano
rock!
Now, we press
forward into the fall season. Just because we feel
secure about the most of the music learned at retreat does
not mean that we can coast into Advent. We need
EVERYONE in rehearsal weekly to tweak and polish what we
learned, and to prepare what we will be singing in regular
Sunday services.
Children’s Choir
rehearsals under the direction of
Janet Roberts
will resume on
Sunday, September 12, prior to Sunday School. If you
know of children in our congregation that should be
singing, please recruit them. Remember, they are the
Chancel Choir of the future. The only
requirement is that they are able to read and are in grade
1-5. Contact
Janet for
further information.
Congratulations
to newly elected Elders:
Pam Hutto, Dede Elmore, and Lovic Brooks, Nancy’s husband.
Elected as Deacons:
Rebekah Good and Gina Breland.
The choir is well represented!
On a high note,
we congratulate
Kari Pepper and Howie McKeone
on their engagement.
Howie has
already made an impact on the choir and we are happy to
have him aboard.
Continue to keep
choir members and their families in your prayers.
