A Church that Emphasizes Christian Outreach

Lake Murray Presbyterian Church is a congregation within the nationwide Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), in the growing community of Chapin, South Carolina. Founded in 1975, LMPC emphasizes outreach – and by that we mean something greater than increasing our membership. We mean to follow the command of Jesus Christ to reach out to the least, the last, and the lost. We do this locally, of course, but also more broadly across this region, and internationally.

Our mission is to live out the truth of God’s love and to serve our community, which includes all the world.

What We Believe

We are Christians, followers of Jesus of Nazareth, whom we call the Christ, meaning “the Anointed.” We are part of the nationwide Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), meaning that we share in the 2,000-year heritage of the church that we call the Body of Christ, because we carry out the work of Jesus in this physical world. Jesus taught us first to love God – His and our Father – with all our hearts, souls and minds, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Whatever we as a church and as individual Christians do, it’s not about us and what we want. It’s about living the full life that Jesus intends for us and our neighbors.

What to Expect

Expect to be welcomed. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, whatever challenges you face, we welcome you with open arms. We want you to know that, and feel it not only when you encounter us, but every day thereafter as we share God’s love with you. Our worship service exhibits reverence and the majesty of God through beautiful architecture, rich literature, and majestic music. That’s how we worship God. We obey God by loving each other, which is reflected in our programs, for all ages. Most importantly, expect, hope, and pray for God to move in your life!
