What We Believe
We Are Christian
That’s the most important thing to understand. We believe the God of Jacob and Abraham not only made the world, but cares for it and for us as a group and as individuals. We believe that God sent the Son, Jesus, to share our humanity as our Lord and Savior. We believe in the Trinity, one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the life, death, and resurrection of Christ offer us the way to have abundant life here and eternally in heaven.
We Are Presbyterian
We believe in grace alone, meaning we are saved not by what we do, but by the grace of God. We obtain salvation by putting our faith in Christ. We believe Scripture is the Word of God and is our standard for what we believe and do. Presbyterianism is a way of being Reformed. The Reformed Tradition dates to principles articulated by John Calvin in the 16th century and speaks to us with immediacy today. Central to this tradition is affirmation of the sovereignty of God. We believe that all we have is a gift from God, and we are called to be stewards of those gifts. God calls us to service in the world, and to generous stewardship of what we have. We are enjoined to work for a society that seeks justice.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A)
Specifically, we are part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the largest Presbyterian body in the United States. Find out more about PCUSA here. We are also part of the Fellowship Community of Presbyterians, which is dedicated to biblical values on such things as holy marriage, while focusing on “Building Flourishing Churches That Make Disciples.” Learn more about that.
