The Creative Curriculum

At Lake Murray Presbyterian Church Day School, we utilize The Creative Curriculum and a biblical foundation to guide children’s learning during daily routines and everyday activities. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with the South Carolina Early Learning Standards and includes developmentally appropriate goals and objectives. Teachers use their knowledge of child development and the knowledge of their student’s individual needs, strengths, interests, and cultural context to inform their instruction.

Each area of development is thoughtfully considered as our teachers plan lessons to promote independence, grow self-confidence, increase small and large motor skills, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, engage in communication with others and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. These lessons are taught in a classroom that is specifically set up for exploration and learning. Distinct learning areas such as dramatic play, art, and block centers provide children with opportunities to make choices, experiment, and interact with others.

Classroom Experience

Students will also experience lessons within “themed studies” that serve as a guide for learning. While age groups share a weekly “theme,” each individual class may explore them in their own way based on interests and needs within their classroom in the pursuit of kindergarten readiness.

Our program is designed to foster growth in six key areas while also supporting physical, cognitive, language, and social/emotional development. Through hands-on activities and play-based learning, we help children build confidence, curiosity, and essential skills that prepare them for both school and life. We invite you to explore our program and see how we can support your child’s growth in a caring environment influenced by Christian values.

  • Holistic Growth Approach: Children develop skills in six key areas—language, group awareness, health and safety, creativity, music, and spiritual awareness.
  • Social & Emotional Development: Our program emphasizes cooperation, perseverance, good manners, and building positive relationships.
  • Intellectual Growth: Children engage in problem-solving, creative expression, and hands-on learning experiences in science, language, and more.
  • Physical Development: Activities support both fine and gross motor skills, listening skills, and healthy habits.
  • Spiritual Influence: We help children develop kindness, gratitude, and an understanding of God’s love in an age-appropriate way.
  • Engaging Experiences: Weekly music and art classes, storytime, structured play, and family-involved performances enrich the learning journey.

As a faith-based center, we place emphasis on community. Our teachers and staff strive to build positive relationships with families. Working together, we can help your child acquire the skills, attitudes, and habits to succeed in both school and life.

Nut Free School Policy

Parents are responsible for packing snacks and lunch for their child each day. All food must be NUT FREE. Please avoid peanuts, tree nuts, and any products containing nut ingredients. Be sure to check labels for cross-contamination warnings. Thank you for helping us create a safe space for all children.
